vscode is riddled with telemetry sending data back to the microsoft mothership.

beyond that, just add the vim plugin and learn vim motions before you ditch vscode. maybe you never ditch it, but you'll likely see improvements in your coding performance. also it is fun to learn, feels like a super power.
