Let's assume Starlink is some kind of scam. Is there a legitimate alternative possibility of a decentralized way of connecting to the internet from anywhere on earth? #asknostr
If Starlink is a scam, could it be any worse than the likely monitoring and data harvesting from the current ISP's?
I'm actually very curious to see what plebs have to say about this. nostr:nevent1qqsd79cmyenzaxjcchrnh08xqtqj6vgnh9sj9hqq0xkz5emymk4qxfqpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezumt0d5hsygyzzqq9dxnjpcrdd5jqjfs568takshg3feumtllakfc0sk7rxqgnupsgqqqqqqs6laalg

Nice. Let me know when it's sorted and I'll send you some SATs
Hi ! Finally sorted 🔮 #online?
mesh networks? I saw something on nostr a few days ago, I'll try to dig it out
They don’t get the same press, but there are other satellite providers out there: https://www.cnet.com/home/internet/best-satellite-internet/
What little I've looked at this, there's nothing really comparable to Starlink.
Except this: https://blockstream.com/satellite/
Is that even up and functioning yet?

My next question is that is this only for the BTC block distribution? I don't see any plans for internet connectivity on a cursory view of the site.
You are correct.
That's not useful for me, then. Unless I would go completely dark and I'd rather not at this point.
There are other satellite networks like Inmarsat, but I believe Starlink are the best technically right now. Other networks are being launched every day. Including several from BRICS members. Depends what your requirements, affiliations and budget are.
