After the USSR's disintegration, US became the world's dominant power, potentially the first global hegemony.
It had the option to prioritize improving its citizens' living standards and guiding the world toward a better future.
Instead, US chose perpetual war and is directly or indirectly responsible for some of the worst atrocities in the past 25 years.
The world deserves better.
They may not have improved their citizens' lives, but they gave them Instagram, veganism, and 50 genders. That's enough to be happy.

It is always a burden for every empire to maintain an hegemonic status. It needs many resources that are never enough, an endless human power which does not exist, internal parties not to fight each other etc. That is why empires at some point bring misery inside and havoc outside.
We have seen that many times before in history.
We have to switch to global collaboration instead of antagonism for a change...
“the US” includes everyone in it. past, and present.
