I applaud you move in the right direction in respect to Jesus Christ.  I would give you these passages relating (I think) to the Book of Mormon

"8But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!" (Galatians 1:8-9)

"I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book." (Revelation 22:18-19)

I would argue that the Book of Mormon is not from God, but from man and that you need to use only the Bible in your search for truth and faith in God.
