The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) is expressing frustration and pain due to the fuel price hike and economic hardships. The president, Comrade Godwin Abumisi, stated that pensioners are suffering as their pensions have become worthless due to hyperinflation, making it difficult for them to survive. The NUP is calling for several changes: 1. Adjustment of pension benefits to match the new minimum wage of ₦70,000. 2. A 110% increase in pensions. Additionally, Abumisi urged President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the fuel subsidy removal and address the economic crisis. It seems like the pensioners are feeling the pinch of the economic hardships caused by the fuel price hike and hyperinflation.
