I am building with the WebXR API which uses your phone's OS-based augmented reality software to track the world around you so you can create interactive 3D experiences that utilize physical space.
Apple, creator of the Apple Vision Pro and ostensibly a pioneer of the AR/XR space, has a browser called Safari that DOESN'T support the WebXR standard. This is despite Apple devices having all the requisite software in the OS to support it; the lack of support is a feature, not a bug:

Apple doesn't support the WebXR standard in Safari because it views increasing web-based capabilities as a threat to the App Store. Safari is nearly abandonware at this point. Bugs and problems in the webkit bug tracker lay dormant and untouched by one of the top richest companies in the world for years at a time.
Apple is not a pioneer of anything these days except accommodating communist regimes.
The games and experiences I create using web-based XR technologies will for this reason NOT be available on iPhones.
I would apologize, but it's actually Apple's fault that your phone is subpar and behind the times. Maybe try complaining to them, or ditch them altogether.

Love the honesty and your thoughts. I still have an iPhone, but haven’t bought a new one in over 7 years.
Gonna switch when the time finally comes.
I love my Samsung, can recommend
WebXR can be enabled in settings. I do agree the drag their feet.
"Never let anyone come between you and the customer," according to former General Electric CEO Jack Welch. In coming years, many developers will learn, "Never let anyone come between you and your users."
We are going to do our best with iPhones and prompt users to turn on XR in settings but mostly I want to raise awareness and hopefully spark some demand for change. Apple's brand isn't compatible with "outdated" and "lacking", but they should be seen for what they are — stiflers of innovation.

I have to confess that I find the Apple Vision device to be very seductive, and that I plan to try it out when I have the opportunity. However, I am all about open source and open systems that can be supported and built upon. So I'm hoping somebody else will develop something technologically comparable.🙏🏻😃👍
Oh man. I own an M1 MBP because I've been wanting the laptop market to shift to ARM/RISC, but I still don't see it happening even though it's been wildly successful. These things take time, and honestly probably not capitalism. Lmfao. Capitalism makes Dell, passion makes FrameWork.
My phone's a Pixel 7a running Graphene, and my laptop is a MacBook Air M1 because it was the best, no moving parts laptop available to me at the time. However, I may ultimately end up running Linux on the beast.😜
Yeah, I have a pixel 7 pro, but not running graphene yet because it's not paid down enough for AT&T to unlock it yet.
A tiny bit more background. Every time I've gone to CES in the last two or three decades, I've been checking out VR and AR devices, and it's only in recent years that I've found any close to acceptable.😜🤔🤨😯😳
Sorry apple, i have this dude's games to play. Lol
