We've made improvements on both of these points. The editor issue with the ":" character was related to our emoji popup, but should be fixed now. If you are still experiencing it, please let me know which page you are on (main post, reply, or DMs) and which exact sequence of characters is producing the error. 

As for seeing notes immediately after you post them - this should now be fixed too. Please make sure you are using the latest build of our web app (maybe shift+reload) and let me know if you are still experiencing issues.
