If my ASD would have been treated, and I gained the cognitive function at a much younger age than 50, I would have been an amazing corporate shill.

It didn’t happen that way. In fact, SAP, the company who is most noted for neurodiversity programs fired me. Didn’t even bother to ask, 14 ish years lost to a few spectrum issues.

And laid off 5 years later for the same general reasons, with a diagnosis.

It’s great we are being seen but some of us have been treated like shit for years.

It’s made me who I am, and who I am happens to be not average or “neurotypical”.

If you’re on the spectrum, you will find more acceptance today than before, your new weird friends want to hear about your new thing and finally in my 51 years on this earth my weird is something I am proud of.

Data, information systems, and patterns are my superpower, I see trends most can’t, I have a gut that finds stuff, I root out everything, and I do it on systems you use everyday.

I fight like hell for myself and I fail a lot, A LOT! But since I am autistic, it’s never failing, it’s solving other problems. It is always 6 months early and when everyone else comes around, I have to remember what I found, thank god for my verbose writing with 4 grade grammar!
