Anarchy and peace: A paradox, or the natural order? Everyone has the right to own one, and it’s a good idea to own one, but I still dislike guns, only because what I more broadly oppose is murder, even if the means is just defence. I oppose the very existence of a tool designed to murder humans. This opinion coming from an anarchist is painfully ironic. What’s even more ironic? The oldest dated human tool ever found in lomikiwi Kenya dates back 3million years, and it is a weapon. I know the insane conflict in my world view and have thought about it for a very long time, hence the username. The fact is the genie is out the bottle, and it has been since the dawn of man, and even the dawn of life. Just as Eve ate the apple, Adam sharpened the stone. You have the same right to own a weapon as our ancient ancestors, and their ancient ancestors before them. It is worrying that we’re now so advanced our weapons can cease millions in the blink of an eye, but we must accept that weapons exist, and because they exist everyone must have the right to own one to prevent tyranny. In the name of self-preservation, our foremost survival instinct, it must be a good idea to own a weapon. It would be colossally naive to think everyone and everything has your best interest at heart, and if you know they have the ability to harm you, it is irresponsible not to protect yourself by any means. I’m sure if we could however, we’d all rather not have to kill another human to save ourself. Well, that’s not against any laws of physics. We know of many ways to forcefully disarm bad actors without causing death. Tasers, sedation, tear gas, and so on. As your ability to do so increasingly prevails thanks to technology, it becomes morally unjust to still opt for the lethal choice. This is not the entire answer however as this can benefit bad actors, and all cause death when administered in large amounts. Our problem is that we are obsessed with the sword, and have forgotten the shield. Do not only pay attention to the sword, as we’ve all heard to live by the sword is to die by the sword. Pay close attention to the shield. To live by the shield is to die by God. mutually assured destruction is not the means to a peaceful ends, the clue being the word destruction. To find anarchy and peace, and to unify liberty and security for yourself, do not ask how you can destroy bad actors, ask how you make them redundant. Swords don’t make swords redundant, shields do. Guns don’t make guns redundant, armour does. Missiles don’t make missiles redundant, iron domes do. When the bad actor takes it that step too far, we can rise above evil by becoming impenetrable. The majority of violence is carried out by the worst bad actor of them all, the state. This is why not only can anarchy coexist with peace, but why peace can only exist in anarchy. It is a moral responsibility to opt out of the evils of the state, and we all seem to know this. The greatest deception of our lives however is to think we opt out by voting, and we have been distracted in believing that the only alternative to voting is violence, so we keep on voting. You do not opt out of tyranny with voting or guns, you opt out of tyranny by becoming invincible. Strive to serve and protect your community and environment, that is the shield of your property. Store and exchange your favours in Bitcoin, that is the shield of your wealth. Spread word of your knowledge, wisdom and services on uncensored platforms of free speech, that is the shield of your liberty. I’m not telling you that we need to start a revolution, I’m telling you that when we’re ready, we won’t have to.
