 Clients can send pubkey prefixes, so even if you have huge follows lists (to a degree) this can be mitigated 

 The query is only half the problem, note size limits is the other half. Also i thought we removed the prefix thing from the spec. 

 i'm not aware of this pubkey prefixes thing... it's used by databases but that's it 

 It was fine up to 2000, after that stuff gets wonky.

 It's an open protocol. You can do what you want. 

 I mean, we all know @Derek Ross is a bot, but other than that just add to the discourse and people will certainly follow you.
