Student sentenced eight weeks for falsely canceling artiste Cho Wing-lim’s organ donation registration
==========
A student named Wong Tsz-shing has been sentenced to eight weeks in prison for impersonating TVB artiste Raymond Cho Wing-lim and canceling his registration for the centralized organ donation registry. Wong pleaded guilty to criminal damage of a computer belonging to the Department of Health on May 23, 2023. The magistrate, Stephanie Tsui May-har, stated that Wong's prank affected patients in need of replacement organs and that any sabotage of the registry must not be tolerated. Wong was released on bail pending an appeal. The defense argued that Wong is a good student studying social sciences at the University of Hong Kong, but the magistrate rejected the argument. Wong also attempted to cancel the organ donation registrations of lawmaker Junius Ho Kwan-yiu and former Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor. Wong admitted to searching for Cho's personal information on doxxing websites and submitting the cancellation. Cho later confirmed that he had never registered for the centralized organ donation system.
