NASA has partnered with fashion house Prada and Houston-based startup Axiom Space to develop a new spacesuit, the AxEMU, for its Artemis 3 mission to the moon in 2026. The suit aims to provide greater flexibility, efficiency, and safety for astronauts during moonwalks and spacewalks. According to Russell Ralston, executive vice president of extravehicular activities for Axiom Space, the most challenging aspect was developing the boots. The AxEMU is designed to fit easily and can be quickly adapted for use in low Earth orbit. NASA plans further testing before the suit's final development stage.
