i encountered a fun bug with the steam controller this last couple of days... idk, maybe it's some update in the libinput library for X or something, and maybe it doesn't affect wayland... not even sure that wayland has its own input system though

the problem that happens is it's like the shift key is stuck down... unplugging the steam controller radio dongle doesn't fix it, shutting down steam doesn't fix it...

oddly enough the fix that seemed to work without forcing me to restart X (which i wasn't gonna do because of needing to finish a long running process on a very big file, recent prior post discusses that) was to simply plug the controller in via cable

managed to string together a load of USB extensions that put the controller far enough away that i can sit comfy in my couch and play Kingdom Two Crowns with it, without it breaking my X session

i hope these fuckers will fix their goddamn driver soon

i don't even get how this shiot happens since after all it's just a fucking serial fucking port. pathetic.
pretty sure it was affecting the gameplay too, making the controller prone to triggering that shift key when i didn't mean it... specifically i'm really wondering about whether the game's input system is treating a double tap on keys as the same as pressing shift with the key... i customized the controller for this game so that my left touch pad is just left and right, walking... and right of the right touchpad holding is supposed to be the shift key... but it's very prone to detecting double taps on all of these touchpad surfaces and it interprets them to mean other things

namely, sprinting (or galloping, maybe more accurate) and when i double tap on the shift key, it does the "special action" which for various mounts does different things, the gryphon does this wing clap thing that kills greedies, and in the new DLC with the ancient greek theme the Hades 3 headed dog does this crazy thing where it spits fire and launches forward, killing greedies in its path... other mounts do other things... it's all a bit beta if you ask me, but i do ever so much enjoy this game
