Cop outposts, over 70 houses torched in Manipur’s Jiribam

Armed men torched government offices, including two police outposts, and over 70 houses in Manipur's Jiribam district. The houses were vacant after the evacuation of over 200 people to relief camps. The state government sent reinforcements and additional Manipur Police commandos to Jiribam. Tension in the district escalated after the murder of a 59-year-old man. Unidentified gunmen were responsible for the arson. The newly-elected Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam commented on the crisis.
