Inquiring minds would like to know
ad hominem, "the four horsemen of the infocalypse". don't fall for it.
I am not. But a conversation on it with someone who might has something more on it to say could be beneficial, i think
a possible good argument: the left has spent decades saying that the right was alienated and turned a blind eye to all the problems of the universe. "if I don't see it, it doesn't exist", left accused them as daily act. and now that's precisely what they wanna do. "if you ban it, it doesn't exist". much easier than a intelligence operation, infiltrating the group, finding out the identities by other means, arresting the bad guys and providing a real solution to the problem. much simpler to use it as an excuse to punish everyone -- with objectives other than nazism (or pedophilia or terrorism) in mind.
Yeah, it's pretty solid when it comes to privacy. Imagine building something like this on Nostr, it'd be 10 times better with Nostr's flexibility and easy integration!
Why is it considered solid? Just a few words if you don't want tonwrite much
It's very well thought out, especially regarding metadata privacy; even the server host can't track user messages on their hosted servers/relay. Other privacy-related features, like incognito mode, provide an extra layer of anonymity on top of your already anonymous account. On the downside, they are VC and billionaire funded, so things could change at any time. Hopefully, we will have our own truly private DMs very soon.
