I think whoever said that the issue was that so many (esp YA) authors are women who started off in slash was correct. 

There are fanfic writers who went on to write good books (eg Boujold), but if one grew up exclusively both reading and writing slash and/or non-con and/or age-play fanfic….. nostr.fmt.wiz.biz
