it's true. we aren't growing nearly as fast as Bluesky. that's no secret. however, we are a grassroots movement with sound goals and an incredible amount of passion. we may need to tweak some strategies from time to time, but we will succeed. nostr:note1qqqxz5u5t0gx5zrmmyrme2xxvcpavfqtaksuetlxvdw4jecw2yeqwl0ymv
Slow and steady
Absolutely.
Growth is not my KPI. Freedom and cool people is.
Your KPIs were due 9 days ago Juraj, you are late turning them in!
Thank you for reminding me of my deadlines! 😉 I will bring some cool people from Žilina this Saturday. naddr1qvzqqqrukvpzpk4kccr9csumnwhmpv83ladqc6p88089cx2e5s2c4448ppgl2pakqqyxycf5vs6xvvfhf9y68w
This there a nice list of SK/CZ conferences like this?
Cool people and freedom technology are important, but with more users comes more value for value or more subscriptions which means sustainability for our devs.
Value for Value tastes best when it comes from freedom-seeking cool people. I don't disagree with you, but many platforms had problem of normies coming in and basically shitting on the street, making cool people leave. Nostr will either die or this will happen to it too, I just hope it won't be too soon, so we can have some more fun here. USENET / Mailing lists -> IRC -> SILC -> (pre-social forums, for me kyberia) -> Facebook -> Instagram/Twitter/... All has the same fate. Cool people are in, discussions are fun, then normies come, there's ton of spam, cool people leave.
‘Cool people’ is always subjective. Right or wrong, most people will think of us bitcoiners geeks and nerds. I personally don’t think it’s necessary or helpful to judge groups of people.
As a personal KPI it's good. It's not about judging, I'm not saying there's anyone who would not come. I personally prefer quality over quantity and striving for numbers is not the best approach. Value is always subjective and it's good. For some people even Facebook is good.
I get that. How are you defining quality? It’s probable I’ve missed some context somewhere.
Slow & steady wins the 🏇
We'll get there.
We don't need to outgrow anyone because a) there is no real competition and b) this is fiat thinking. Let's grow organically and tackle the challenges we'll face as they come in. I am glad nostr isn't "on the radar" yet.
Well played Mina
Doesn't even matter if Nostr gets "on the radar" - stay on a collection of small relays and it'll feel as local as the day it was born. Nostr is a dark forest tech and cannot be harmed by scale.
Like we need comparison with Bluesky. Time will show Nostr is the way.
It's not a bad thing to check out what's happening on the other side from time to time. Juat don't become obsessed or let it define you or your movement.
