"The Bitcoin Community" is a false idea, and Bitcoin attracts the same %'s of sociopaths and good people as anywhere else, but in the extremes of those personality types.
The sociopaths move through the ranks, extract money with mimicry, and have disposable approaches to relationships and businesses.
The real producers and good faith participants don't have the same superficial charm, but compensate with their output. The solution is to work harder on reputation systems, and in the mean time - keep a tight crew that can demonstrate their virtues with proof of work.
The taxation system in Bitcoin is in the social layer through scams and grifts. They are everywhere and often accepted/tolerated by Bitcoiners.
Stay frosty out there!
Reputation systems should be based on work, not socializing. So merit it is, then.
