India third largest start-up economy: Start-up Odisha's Omkar Rai

India has become the third largest startup economy in the world, ranked behind the USA and China. Start-up Odisha's executive chairman, Omkar Rai, made this announcement at the inauguration of 'SOA E-Summit-2024' at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) in Bhubaneswar. Rai emphasized the need for students to show interest in startups to become self-dependent and job providers. Odisha has 1,940 recognized startups, including 151 in the agricultural sector, 25 in artificial intelligence, 27 in automotive, 13 in telecommunication and networking, 133 in the education sector, 2 in conventional energy, and 22 in renewable energy. The university is also focusing on innovation in engineering, technology, and other curriculum areas. The Atal incubation center in SOA will soon gain prominence. IIT-Hyderabad recently praised two projects from SOA, one in the agricultural sector and the other in dental sciences. Omkar Rai also inaugurated a start-up expo and a 24-hour idea prototype hackathon.
