and then I packed up the kids and headed out for a few days, where the service was minimal and the people even less so. and the skies were bluer and the clouds fluffier and the air crisper and the colours warmer. and we hiked a bit and walked a bit more. and beth jr caught her first fish while singing christmas songs, repeating over and over ‘all is calm’. and all was calm. and it was her best day in the whole world. and I decided that it’s more than super important to live with intention and spend quality time with the littles, wherever that may be.
