It’s relevant for the User experience. If you use Damus and you don’t know what this little purple man does then you just get to suffer with ReplyGuy. ReplyGuy doesn’t care about your Damus Purple subscription, he just automatically spams your feed and little purple man is your only defense that you as a paid User of Damus needs to know exist to utilise. You don’t get an option to filter users by NIP05 or lack thereof.
