Israeli private eye accused of hacking was questioned about DC public affairs firm, sources say

An Israeli private investigator, Amit Forlit, who is sought by the United States over hack-for-hire allegations, was questioned by FBI agents about his work for the Washington public affairs firm DCI Group, according to sources. The FBI's interest in DCI indicates a wider U.S. probe into cybermercenary activity. Forlit was arrested in London on April 30 on cybercrime and wire fraud charges but was released two days later due to a procedural error. He was rearrested on the same charges and has been released on bail. Forlit's lawyers did not comment on the matter. Forlit had previously acknowledged that another Israeli private investigator, Aviram Azari, had done work on his behalf. Forlit is also being sued in New York federal court by aviation executive Farhad Azima, who accuses him of being involved in the theft of his emails in 2016. Forlit denies the allegations.
