What is main difference between mining POW vs buying direct ?

Fiat COST OF ACQUISITION OF COIN 
when CAPEX + OPEX < PRICE2BUY  - mining is profitable
when  CAPEX + OPEX > PRICE2BUY - buying is cheaper (this is retail case now any matured blockchain)

This has nothing do with HODL or TRADING
