Almost all electronic devices have a de facto "remote killswitch", as they usually have internet connectivity for remote support. That's why your vacuum cleaner can spy on you. 😅 

Why everyone outside of China buys Chinese electronic devices, is beyond me. One reason they're so cheap, is that the CCP heavily subsidizes them, to make sure we replace all of our western, Korean, and Japanese devices with theirs. 
Because reasons. 🤨 

Just hope they don't figure out a way to turn them all into bombs. Cuz that would be a mess. 

 remote support is fine, but it's probably something that should be behind a button that needs to be enabled explicitly, when support is actually needed, not *surprise*

i try to buy as little devices with internet connectivity as possible, and if they need this i keep them on an isolated network to gate access and monitor them
