At a friends house. Just found out they microwave their coffee beans before grinding them because it helps "pre-releaae the aromas" Thoughts? https://i.nostr.build/0jELv.jpg #coffeechain #plebchain
No. Microwaves are fiat.
Nooooooo. At least when doing pour over thats why you wet your beans and let the beans sit for a sec before you continue to pour. The heat from the boiled water does that already. It would be redundant to microwave them before doing that.
If they want ‘prereleased’ aromas due to heat expansion toss them in a pan over heat for a minute. The only thing microwaves are good for is storing phones in.
It kills my soul a little every time, but I do sometimes find it handy to heat water for tea if I don’t have time to boil the kettle 😢
It helps to have extra steps. Like needing to go outside and turn on a generator in order to use a microwave. 🤓 I have a small thin wall pot I use for heating water. It’s very fast. As if we ever don’t have time.
My kettle is huge so the thermal mass of the water inside is large. This is great for when it’s already gotten hot and you want more tea all through the day. It then takes less time to bring back to boil.
Absolutely do not do this. You can't control the wattage and heated absorption very easily. They're already roasted by experts and anyone that thinks they are going to get consistent results with this is fooling themselves. The only thing they will get from this is additional aroma dispersed into the air before brewing. Likely losing flavor in the brew itself.

Very very very retarded
Micro are danger change structure molecular of foods. You don't want this beliveme
A little bit microwaving is ok but not too much. Also I think microwaving a food for one minute and letting it sit for one minute helps with this issue. What you think ?
E prea puternic chiar și un minut face foarte rau hranei am renuntat de 10 ani si nu prea mai stiu persoane care mai folosesc
Ppl in America love microwave. Alot of chefs use it. It's quick clean and simple.
Din ce stiu este periculos pentru sanatate in America este multa manipulare
Thanks to our conversation I avoided the microwave when reheating some soup for dinner 🍽️ hahah
To everyone that says it's a bad idea without experimenting/verifying, shame on you.
Altering the molecular structure of anything you are going to ingest, if you take the time to reflect about it, sounds retarded. Even without knowing the exact implications of it. I personally avoid even being closed to a switched on microwave, mainly out of conciousness of being ignorant about the risks posed by microwaves. This guy seems to know a lot about the damage microwaves cause to food. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cFI2ojj_gE
If the aromas are released before you brew, then they're not around when you brew, and your coffee sucks
My thoughts: largely pointless. Microwaves/magnetrons resonate/vibrate the molecular bonds within water to generate heat. Very similar to applying heat to water in order to boil it, which you’re going to do anyway when brewing a coffee. Coffee beans are already roasted to bring out the aroma so why try to repeat this step by targeting the little water left in each roasted bean, whilst also running the risk of overheating the beans — microwaves are directional and can heat unevenly, creating hotspots (hence the rotating plate) — and thus breaking down the very chemical compounds that produce the aroma in the first place. Furthermore, the beans are then mechanically ground, which also releases the aromas, and it’s important not to generate heat during that step too. Conclusion: waste of electricity that introduces an extra heating step that could actually ruin the flavour.
