The first person in China who can speak English is from Guangzhou. During the Ming Dynasty. American Christian pastors promoted the Christian faith in Guangzhou and taught ordinary citizens in Guangzhou to learn English. Chinese schools and hospitals were established in the early 19th century when American priests entered China to help the Chinese people build and spread civilization. Historically, Americans and Chinese have had friendly relations. Americans have been helping Chinese people. 

The earliest contact between China and the Americans was Guangzhou. Guangzhou has always been the first stop for Americans to come to China.
