**Russian Family Lives in Siberian Wilderness for Decades, Unaware of World War II and Moon Landing**

A Russian family lived in the Siberian wilderness for 40 years, cut off from the outside world. Karp and Akulina Lykov and their children, Savin, Natalia, and Dmitry, moved to the forest in 1936 to escape persecution during Stalin's purges. They survived on wild berries, fish, and other natural resources, with little knowledge of modern civilization.

The family was only discovered in 1988 by Soviet geologists, who were startled to find a family living in such isolation. The parents died young, but their children continued to live in the forest until their deaths in 1981. Their daughter, Agafia, remained and has lived there ever since, receiving occasional help from volunteers.
