A guy who works for me has a kid that is 10 going on 11.  His house is a 5 minute walk from school.  He just joined some club that meets after school.  The school will not permit him to walk home, he either has to take the bus, which will take an hour due to the way it loops around, or be picked up.  Good grief.  No wonder kids are helpless and fat.
