I have a Love/Hate relationship with #amethyst arguably the De-facto #android Nostr client. But on my low-end #xiaomi Mi A2 Lite (2018, #lineage 20) the new #primal #fdroid releases have been a god-send. The note rendering still needs work, but the responsiveness is (almost) on #damus level (yes, I have an #iphone to test)

Congrats #primal team!

How do you like Primal's wallet? They force you to use their wallet to zap and you have to give personal info
 LOL I use Stacker.news wallet and #phoenixwallet

Next version has a simplified layout to reduce the strain in the CPU. Let's see if that solves some of the problems. But yes, Amethyst doesn't work well in devices older than 2020 :( . There is just too much going on.
I remember an old podcast episode where the #primal dev said the client relied on some very aggresive caching and that the whole stack was #foss

The secret sauce?
yep, they centralize in a caching server primal offers as well.
Aw #shit the paranoid in me says #primal is the just as willing to sell your nsec for profit. That's what I get for bad-mouthing #amethyst
