100%. Almost ALL of the "elegant life" is really about chasing status, and people constantly confuse status for happiness. It is not and will not make you happy. To the contrary it will make you feel empty and all you will want is to chase higher status.

the real things in life are far simpler, and having a solid grounding, a family, doing what you love, and securing your life against the storms of the world will give you more happiness and fulfillment than anything else I know of.

Chasing clout is not only shallow, but all the people who spend their lives chasing it are shallow too. Don't spend your life with them, and don't try to be them.

That is what my answer is to everyone that asks how I spend so little.

The shit I love is free.
All I want is a decent size house and some acres for growing and the children to roam free on. Not too much to ask but costs a fortune
There are bargains to be had if you venture off the beaten path.
This couldn't be more true... Fancy stuff is fun during the first 15 minutes... If you don't have the people that you want to share it with you it's empty as fuck.

On the other hand... The people that you want can be fulfilling indefinitely.

I would only become immortal if I could carry my people with me... Otherwise, no, thanks! =)))

My bitcoin journey began indirectly by wanting to own a bluewater sailboat. I remember sitting down and calculating how many working years I'd need in order to save up that money, basically it was impossible. But that didn't stop me, so I looked into value investing (too poor for real estate), everyone was doing it to increase their long term purchasing power but learning about it and researching dozens of companies felt like another job, because it was!

One day, a historian channel on YouTube recommended one should read Economics in One Lesson, by Henry Hazlitt; it shook my world view. I then went down the rabbit hole of Austrian economics, anarchy, carnivore diet and ultimately, bitcoin.

So my journey began with wanting something superficial, but it ignited the spark and motivation in me to find ways to earn and learn about money. But during that time and now, I've started a family, lowered my time preference and started a business; all I can say now is that @TheGuySwann and @HODL l are totally on point, the sailboat would be nice, but it no longer drives me, my life is great and only getting better and I think it's because bitcoin let's you wake up and smell the cappuccino. Things will get better, get out of the rat race and stack sats, the rest will come naturally.

Unfortunately, most fail to discovery this epiphany far too late in their lives.
Being humble is true mark of wisdom
