That's not really true though. People did tons of work for decades trying to legalize it, and then it became a reality when states were desperate enough for the taxes.

I'm happy you can be happy as long as people don't smoke in areas that would be a nuisance to others. You have smoking areas, go smoke there. It's illegal in my country yet people still smoke in their apartments with open windows so everyone in the complex has to deal with the horrible smell whenever that happens.
