There are still people in USA that believe in first amendment, and this is really hopeful and nice and beautiful and respectful and... but to a certain degree, not sure how much, it's an illusion. It's the same illusion that Gonzalo Lira had and he couldn't realise that being a USA citizen he could be sentenced to death because of something he said in a country that the propaganda says that shares the same democratic values, while his liberation was a phone call away.
Besides there is no need for much official censorship when deplatforming by private companies and cancel culture are enough. I think...
