They don't want to take your guns.  They want to dramatize the necessity of big govt.  They know you can't do shit with your pew pew against what they have.  Any tragedy from life lost is fuel for their further dramatization.  If they wanted to disarm you, they would have long ago.  The US has more guns and ammo per capita (120/100) which is a national defense need.  Canada has 35/100 and ranks, surprisingly, 7th in the world.  Canada needs MORE guns/capita as a national defense strategy when the military investment has been so poorly funded.  But what the Canadian govt and media does exceptionally well is play up the ban and confiscate meme for the urban news watchers.
