New study could help explain why infection by all #COVID strains increases your chances of cardiovascular disease. 

It included in vitro study of #SARSCOV2 reporter virus effects on specific cells, showing “a significant increase in genes encoding proteins involved in lipid uptake in infected macrophages versus foam cells[, including] the primary cholesterol-carrying lipoprotein in plasma [that] facilitates the uptake of LDL into cells.” Lipid efflux proteins were “significantly downregulated.”
