US DoJ ruled Google must sell Chrome, as part of it's anti-trust case. [1][3]
The Chrome division would be sold off, with some analysts at Bloomberg citing $20 billion as a potential price-tag. The DoJ left the door open for selling Android as well in the future. [1][3]
This is a mixed reaction from me, as on the one hand it's supposedly a private company,
On the other, Google received government money, has contracts with governments, and has massive political influence. So if they are seed funded by DARPA when they first started, and regularly acting as the NSA's IT department, at what point are they no longer private?

This is why Privacy is so important... it's not just the company collecting it.. it's unknowns
Quote CBSNews:
"Regulators also want Google to share data it collects from people's queries with its rivals, giving them a better chance at competing with the tech giant."

Evil Google News, points out that this extends to AI as well,
"The Justice Department’s efforts also include proposals to forestall Google’s control over future technology developments in AI. They may require Google to make its indexes, data and models used for search and AI features accessible to competitors and proposes restrictions on Google’s agreements that could limit other AI firms’ access to web content."
