How Nigeria Can Realise Peaceful Coexistence – Group
==========
A group called Abdullahi Omaki Community Peace Initiatives Network (AOCPIN) has called for rethinking creative initiatives and platforms to evolve new networks of actors committed to driving effective peacebuilding processes in Nigeria. The founder and executive vice chairman of AOCPIN, Ambassador Abdullahi Omaki, stated this at the inauguration of the National Peace and Harmony Council. He emphasized that Nigeria's diversity creates trust issues, which can be converted into assets through creative management. However, the advantages of diversity have regrettably transformed into challenges, with a suffocating impact on the country and its citizens. The national elites and political class have compounded matters by manipulating Nigeria's diversity, obstructing opportunities for national cohesion and collaboration. Nigeria faces numerous challenges that test its resolve, compassion, and commitment to peaceful coexistence. The group believes that in the face of adversity, Nigeria has a choice to let the differences divide it or to come together in the spirit of peace, harmony, and unity. The National Peace and Harmony Council represents a beacon of hope and a symbol of collective desire to rebuild a society where every individual can thrive, regardless of their background, beliefs, or affiliations. Peace and harmony are essential foundations upon which a just, equitable, and prosperous nation can be built. They require effort, dedication, and engagement in difficult conversations to address injustices and inequities in society.
