Free speech is an unalienable right.

Unalienable rights are rights that cannot be taken away, not even by a 100% majority rule vote.

Unalienable rights cannot be legislated away, they cannot be ruled away by any court, and government intstitutions cannot add qualifiers to them, or dilute them.

Democracy robs freedom of choice from minorities. Unalienable rights guarantee the rights of minorities and individuals.

Constitutions do not grant these rights, they explicitly tell the government that it cannot and shall not infringe on these rights.
