 Am so sorry, Jack."
"Sorry?" Jack asked, his voice tight with confusion. "Sorry for what?"
"For what I did," she said, tears streaming down her face. "I know I was supposed to protect you, but I failed. I failed you, Jack."
"What are you talking about?" Jack asked, his voice rising in anger. "What did you do?"
"I... I let them take you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I should have fought harder, but I was afraid. I was so afraid."
"Who took me?" Jack asked, his eyes narrowing in anger.
"The Shadow Men," she said, her voice trembling. "They took you from me, Jack. They took you away."
"Why?" Jack asked, his voice cold with rage. "Why would they do that?"
"I don't know," she said, her voice filled with despair. "I don't know why they took you. But I know I'll never forgive myself for what happened."
"You don't have to forgive yourself," Jack said, his voice softening. "You did what you could. You fought as hard as you could."
"But I should have done more," she said, her voice filled with regret. "I should have protected you."
"You protected me as best you could," Jack said, his voice filled with compassion. "And I appreciate that. I appreciate everything you've done for me."
"I'm so sorry, Jack," she said, her voice filled with grief. "I'm so sorry for what happened."
"It's not your fault," Jack said, his voice filled with conviction. "It's not anyone's fault. These things happen in war."
"I know," she said, her voice filled with sadness. "I know that. But it doesn't make it any easier."
"No," Jack said, his voice filled with empathy. "It doesn't make it any easier. But we have to keep going. We have to keep fighting."
"I will," she said, her voice filled with determination. "I will keep fighting, Jack. For you. For us."
"I know you will," Jack said, his voice filled with hope. "I know you will."
