There are two orthogonal concerns, but they point the same direction: if you capture at 1x and crop after, you both: a) lose the processing the phone does with the multiple frames and b) lose the unbinned full resolution. For the purpose of exposure / amount of light being captured it doesn’t matter, but it *does* lower the resolution.
