Hello ✌️ We are the Frankfurt cultural association MainSlam eV and this is our official Nostr profile. Our passion is organizing literary lecture competitions and the conception of cabaret events.

The association was founded in 2015 by a group of committed friends who wanted to promote the poetry slam event format and offer young artists a platform. Our goal is to make the unique energy of this event format accessible to society at large and to support the development of young talent.

We never tire of emphasizing that freedom of art and speech are indispensable values for a prosperous society. They reflect the open source principles and, of course, the ethos of Bitcoin.
With this in mind, we are replacing or expanding our internal programs and public presences with free and open source software - today we have replaced our Linktree with a Nostree 🎄😊

Using Linux, Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, WordPress etc. doesn't take much courage, but even where it becomes inconvenient we rely on integrity instead of expropriation:
In December 2022, we switched off PayPal, Gpay and Apple Pay as payment service providers in our ticket shop and in their place integrated a nostr:npub155m2k8ml8sqn8w4dhh689vdv0t2twa8dgvkpnzfggxf4wfughjsq2cdcvg with its own Lightning Node, through which we offer tickets for our shows in exchange for bitcoin. Because:

OUR MONEY MUST BE AS FREE AS THE ARTS!

These are many small steps but we are happy to take them and hope to be able to inspire some of the many thousands of viewers and participating artists to free their own (digital) lives from large corporations, monetary patronage and surveillance.
