 Yeah I always think of the mountains as not at risk of this sort of stuff having been on the coast all my life and living in "hurricane path." But then you realize that if the mountains get hit with torrential amounts of rain, it isn't just some extra water covering the roads. It's torrents of water crashing down the side of a mountain and taking out roads, homes, entire towns, mud slides that take whole sections of the mountain, and every other terrifying thing you could imagine. And even worse is that because its on a mountain, they almost invariably have just one or two roads to access the there places. So it's so easy to get completely cut off with barely any options.

A lot of these towns are literally only accessible by helicopter right now.
