It might be a relay thing. Check the relay section after tapping your icon in the top left corner. Does it look like you are connected to the relays in your relay list?

I tried doing that on your profile, and when I try to hit the “add” button next to any of the relays, it does nothing. And I’ve tried manually adding them by typing them in and adding them with no response from that either. Even deleted and redownloaded Damus!

Hey @nobody let me double check with @jb55 today. So far my best guess at what happened is something during onboarding/profile creation was borked (not your fault - I cant seem to figure out exactly what it is). The solution *may* be to create a new key 🙏.
Just my luck 😆 Thank you for looking into it! I decided to try Nostur (which is where I’m replying from now) and I have been able to add relays just fine here! I’m not exactly sure what that means in the back end of things (I’m not very tech savvy but I’m working on it 🙈)
Good to hear! One more note for the Damus team. Although you’re able to add relays via Nostur, I still don’t see them on your profile. 🤦🏼♀️ Yeah I also just noticed that I still don’t have an option to follow any of y’all on Nostur. Again, not sure what that means, but hopefully it helps. If I need to create a new key, at least I really haven’t done much with this one yet. Thanks again for the trouble shooting!
No problem! Might as well give Primal a try at this point. 😆 It has a built in wallet so you can get zapped ASAP. ⚡️

😆😆 Yes! So I’m on Primal now, and I think I’m in all the same relays that I am in Nostur. But I still can’t follow anyone 🤦🏼♀️ So I haven’t tried to set up a wallet yet in case I have to make a new key.
Sorry for all the trouble, will get back to you by a couple hours. Nostur, and primal are great apps as well. I want to make sure there is no limbo state in damus 😅😭

Hey @nobody confirmed there is an unhappy path where if you are not connected to the internet, the profile you created on Damus can have issues. I suggest you create new keys, if possible while connected to stable wifi 🙏.

I’ve had issues with Damus so I’m sticking with Primal.
I was hoping to use an app so I could easily access nostr on my phone. But maybe that’s just not a very efficient way right now.

Ya I have a similar issue. I can follow people with purple checkmarks (whatever that means) on #damus but anyone without it won’t stick. I tried also on #primal, but my follows don’t seem to stick much better there either. I’m using like a dozen relays but that doesn’t seem to help either. 🤷🏽♂️. #noob #plebchain #asknostr
Have you used your keys with apps other than damus?
Hi @elsat, yes I tried primal with my keys to see if was more reliable (it wasn’t).
Were you having issues with followers sticking prior to using primal?
Yup. Followers sticking and slow/broken home feed was the reason I tried primal. Didn’t help much. Came back to Damus. Heard that adding relays would help. It did help for the feed (still slow but better). But following is still very hit or miss. A rough approximation is maybe 50% stick.
Which iOS and Damus versions?
Damus v 1.7.2. / iOS v17.1.2. @elsat appreciate you trying to help. I’m loving Damus. But this is driving me crazy.
Do you remember using any other apps before things started not working?
Nope. I tried nostr a yr ago with snort but that was a temp account. My permanent account here was created with Damus and other than my test of primal shortly, this is all I’ve used. Two other clues: 1. I’m not sure if the relays get flooded or maybe there’s a local memory leak if you do a lot of actions? If I followed more than like 20 people it seems the app really slows down. Maybe that’s when the follows get lost. 2. In general the follow list algorithm seems unoptimized. For example when I go to Jack’s profile and click followers (they start hidden), then the number starts climbing slowly from n=1++ and in his case tops out at like 2200ish followers. He obviously has lot more than that. But it seems like it’s literally doing a foreach loop counting 1by1 until something tops out (memory?)
