small relays only?
With high latency
Six sigma design. Make it work well for the worst scenarios
How does one keep them small? Run our own?
I like big relays and I can't deny...
Why_not_both.gif 🤷
Relays should be chosen for a reason. With blastr around, that's hard because it levels everything. A mix of hubs and archival/private/authenticated relays seems to make sense to support multiple use cases.
That’s when we run into the problem of incomplete threads and inability to read why people tagged you and what they were replying to. 🐶🐾😭
Gossip and relay hints would go a long way toward fixing this, but because we have a blastr band aid, no one thinks those are important. Not to mention the need to really fix this problem through indexing services.

Yes 100% -- i believe DECENTRALIZE is philosophy that u envisioned since learning from political pressure exerted when u were captain of blue birdapp - Having handful platform and/or relays admin ONLY means same headache back on shoulders of those admins. there r many great relay operators who are to be admired - at the same time axe should not fall in their heads when push to come to shove by policymakers
#RelaySizeWars 🤙 I think small, but a mass like a swarm of bees
so small that we all have one like a peer on keet
Someone explain for the rookies 🤦🏾♂️
I have thought that a possible end state of nostr is that there will be some small relays and some large ones. In theory you would have participants who never, in their lifetime, are aware of other groups. Except for a few black sheep who are curious about other groups maybe. This is part of the beauty of NOSTR, is that it mimics the natural organization of peoples and cultures. It empowers groups to be what they are, with their own norms and taboos. https://image.nostr.build/e491cc71ee412b272e0ef3cf00248eacd96051e6934597580dd9283c1507159f.jpg
