What's a Nostr app that you want to use more often, but don't. Why?
Poopstr and because it doesn’t exist
You still haven't launched that yet? Shame.
 Straight up slacking
Too busy making TikTok vids. I get it.
I ain’t never had TikTok. These are nostr vids. Way cooler. Get on board 😂
Uh huh. That's what they all say. Maybe make a TikTok about this and explain to her differences. 👀😜
I don’t think you’re allowed to smoke weed on TikTok vids. That’s the point 😂
 Whaaaaaat?
Yeah I don’t think you can on camera
As a purveyor & enjooyer of legal cannabis products this disappoints me. Weed is innocent.
 Preach
Mosha and I are going to the woods with a joint to contemplate this travesty 😂👌
 Sounds centralized 🤮
That’s all i do on my Lives. Your broad cast just gets limited due to “substance use” . My first account got permanently suspended due to smoking pot on a video, guess that was before they changed the rules a little bit 😂😂
 The beer rating app
We have a beer rating app? Huh?
 No, that's why I don't use it
Sounds like you could solve your own issue 🥹
Is there a NIP for 5-star ratings?
There were discussions about surveys, I guess it is a subset of that problem? 🤔

https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/issues/65
If we had this, we could turn Beerstr into a reality 👀
Unironically, it might be a perfect fit 🍻

I'd copy it and make a doner kebab rating app companion.
For me it's 0xChat. Having a dedicated chat app to replace something like Telegram or Signal seems like something that I really want or need. However, the app just doesn't perform all that well for me. I keep checking every so often though. I have high hopes.
After riga you'll want to use humble.horse
 You have my attention.
 😂😂😂😂😂
100%, this. Huge opportunity that no one has capitalized on successfully.
Y'all are just selling me on apps I need to try. 😂
 Ping @water783 😜
The future plan for 0xchat is to ensure that Derek can use it smoothly.
 This is the way.
 Dsmooth standard
 Shipyard

Because it's a peaceful af way to post notes.

I just always forget it's there
Damn. Me too. It's a beautiful app for writing. I wonder if it gets much use?
 Maybe nostr:nprofile1qqs04xzt6ldm9qhs0ctw0t58kf4z57umjzmjg6jywu0seadwtqqc75spzpmhxue69uhnzdps9enrw73wd9hszynhwden5te0wp6hyurvv4cxzeewv4eszynhwden5te0wfjkccte9enrw73wd9hsxv8qkt has user statistics?
 noted.chat

because it barely works
I don't know if I've ever seen this app before 😲
yeah its a suuper basic client ive been trying to build to figure stuff out. its pretty borked atm but im trying
 Keep building brother 🫂🫂
 Thats the plan 🫡
anything that requires some lame browser extension key signer thing cause wut
Sadly this is the case for most Nostr apps 🥹 And we don't have a good solution form this yet.
I tried initially, tried to run my own nsec bunker too but never could make it work. I would like to use the other clients on mobile.
 Habla.news I guess

Writing long post used to be my interest but now I just become less and less patient 😭
I wish I had more time to write 🥹
I will be your faithful reader ☺️
 Yay! 🫂🫂🫂
 Saaaaame.
 Amethyst.

Because I don't trust the developers/updates anymore.*

*I posted a note about this recently if anyone cares why I lost trust.
I'm pretty sure everything that bothers you is optional and configurable. By all means, follow your path, but you might be missing out.
It literally wasn't configurable nor optional (aside from just not using it, which is my point).

This isn't my path. I'm not the one who snuck it into app without user consent. I've made it very clear that I miss Amethyst. I just don't trust the developers until they acknowledge the issue and commit to not doing it again. I would absolutely use it again. Not getting the issue is the problem.

And if you don't see the issue with saving what people type (even when they chose not to share it) without their knowledge or consent, then you are missing out on ethics.

Adding in configuration options after the fact doesn't address the root issue, which is the nonchalant attitude toward user privacy and choice.
This thing about "trust" and "snuck it into" is unfair and emotionally-charged. I can't present any logical path toward a solution for that. Just know that I run the same setup, with the same concerns, and made it work safe and smooth.

This is also at least the second time you've publicly rage-quit #Amethyst, so I'm going to disengage now and let you throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Hey Matt. I read your issue. I think it's now a moot point because you can choose your draft relay. For example, I choose my local relay. But more importantly, it doesn't matter to me where my drafts go, because they're all encrypted. I prefer them to go local, but because of privacy of encrypted text, because I use it as an offline composer. But thankfully we choices, right? If you don't like how drafts work, you can use an app that doesn't even have drafts on mobile, such as Primal.
I think a lot of people miss my actual point. I left it in detail on the GitHub issue if you care. My issue is that they snuck it in BEFORE I had a choice and didn't tell me it was happening. I lost trust for the developers. Yes, I can go use a different app but I was committed to that app and team. I supported them. I also included suggestions for how to change the culture and update model such that users aren't violated by "features." I have no issue with drafts. I have an issue with saving them and broadcasting them without user knowledge and consent. Yes, the technical issue was LATER addressed, but the misalignment in ethics is what bothers me. They shouldn't have implemented it in that way and not seeing an issue and publicly committing to not doing it again is what bothers me. I love Amethyst otherwise and wish I could trust them again.

So no, I don't think my point is moot and the fact that others do saddens me. It's an ethics problem, not a technical one.
Primal, because lack of integration with Phoenix wallet. Amethyst does it but lacks in other areas (e.g. doesn't stay where I left off on refresh). No "perfect" Nostr client yet.
You can disable the built in Primal wallet and use any bitcoin wallet you'd like to use.
That feature doesn't work with Phoenix
Mobile is nice, but all the web apps are really shaky, doesn’t matter if I use iris, primal or else.
Often a random profile picture appears, the feed is distorted. Using @Alby to sign in.
My wish: a native Mac osx app for Nostr with different columns for different streams would be awesome.

You asked 🤷🏻‍♂️🙃
 https://lume.nu/
I'm excited for the next version of Lume.
I would use @Flockstr as my main event explorer and calendar app, but @zach is constantly building something new
It needs a bit more TLC.
 Check out https://troop.is instead
Throws an error in threw Android Mull privacy browser. Error says "client-side" error.
This is an issue with several nostr devs. They start a great project that’s really cool and useful and then leave it hanging as they move on to something else. At best they’re making proof of concept apps that will never be used. If he hadn’t received OpenSats funding for Flockstr it wouldn’t be as bothersome, because people can spend their time how they like. But many of these devs, including Zach, are receiving grant funding for their projects and then essentially abandoning them.
I've rebuilt Flockstr into a cleaner, better preforming version. It's live right here, https://troop.is
Good to know. It would be helpful to either redirect the Flockstr domain to this or put up a note on its landing page if Flockstr is now deprecated.
And probably nostr:nprofile1qqsxq3nl5a7dp5c3h2r4felr30ul3skrm3d6mtv7u6j072zaftcd7aspzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ucpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3vamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwdehhxarj9e3xzmnyf560n2 too. Though I don't know if people really knew about this iteration?
 Looks great!

It seems you’re displaying events using the UTC time zone instead of the time zone on the event / falling back to system time if unavailable. We should also get the image tag onto the NIP.

Just for fun, comparing 3 calendar event clients! Comingle, Troop, and njump! https://i.nostr.build/3cbUmkKiKluSAWO8.png https://i.nostr.build/OGXeLeGuAPAx8saA.png https://i.nostr.build/hoaCkvbeavhgFgbz.png

 Appreciate it 🖖🏾⚡🔥
 nests
Agree. I know my reasons. What are yours?
Cause it breaks on iOS. 😬
Nope. It works fine on iOS for me when I tested with my loaner iPhone. I wish the login method had Nostr login.
I’m glad you were testing. 🫡 Did you fix the bug, or haven’t reproduced?

Users on iOS safari would see empty chat room while others are there. Has happened more than once with multiple users.

 I didn't see any issue.
 So you haven’t reproduced…
Nope. Full permissions enabled and no issues for me.
 Ahh. Permissions… for what?
 Room presence.
Sorry. Is this something I have to set on iOS? Is there an faq for iOS users? Or will it “just work” now that something has been “fixed” in the app?

Cause TBH… I’ve tried to use nests multiple times over last few months and same issue recurs. For me and other users, Nests has a reputation for not working in iOS. So I just use corny chat now for meetings.

Walk me through how it works on IOS and I’ll start recommending nests.
I'll have nests integration in Nostur soon, that should make it easier, no need to fumble with extensions or browser permissions
no content, no discovery, no time
maybe we need a phone client that is compatible
Honestly, I'd like to use Nostr more in general but Amethyst was bugged for me for a while and I cannot seem to get the web version of Nostr to work no matter what I try. As someone who massively prefers PCs to phones, that's a huge obstacle for me.

Nostr is a great concept, just seems to be buggy on my end.
one that works well, because it doesn't exist
 Give Primal a try.
no fucking way, not putting my nsec in that bullshitware
I wouldn't put my nsec into a random application, but Primal is fine.
no sure, you have no way of having any checks whatsoever that they don't just log your nsec into some db, but it's fine (and don't fucking start with FOSS, its the biggest bullshitware joke out)

There's not one single person that uses Nostr now that doesn't realize that it's very technical still and has a lot of room for improvement.

Not liking a FOSS is a weird flex though.
two. years later and we got shit to show for it except for all the purple-washed kumbaya
no nsec bunker support, forget it
Most people don't use nsecBunker. I'd like to see Amber support and I believe that has real potential for us to use.
are u slow? thats nip46 as well
Amber uses NIP-46 but when most people talk about nsecBunker support they want bunker:// URL or Nostr address login. And since you're incredibly smart, I assumed you would be running your own nsecBunker and not using a third party application that you have to trust.
if u can check and compile the app yourself, that's fine too - ie nsec.app

unlike amber which is a compiled android app which means U have no way of verifying that it's from the source in their git
You know that you can install Android Studio and compile the application yourself, right?
have you actually ever tried building someone else's mobile app from source? or do you just dream about it?
 (n_n)
😂 I do this often. You probably haven't seen my notes about it. That's fine! In a past life, I reported on Android for a decade and compiling apps from source was part of my daily routine. Also compiling custom kernels. Fun times.
wtf, your job was to compile shit?
Reviews, APK teardowns, leaks, opinions, and even compiling shit.
oh man, now it all makes sense
I just tried Gossip on Linux. Does not work. I return to Iris on Brave browser.
I also tried Iris on Firefox browser but my private key and/or public key is not correctly recognized when I sign in.
