LLNL, Precision Neuroscience to Develop Advanced Neural Implants

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has partnered with Precision Neuroscience to develop advanced neural implants for patients with neurological disorders. The three-year collaboration aims to enhance the longevity of Precision's neural implant, called the Layer 7 Cortical Interface, which allows users to operate computer systems through thought. LLNL will leverage its expertise in developing flexible, thin-film multielectrode neural implants and its Biomedical Foundry infrastructure. Precision intends to transfer the techniques developed to its manufacturing subsidiary, Precision BioMEMS. The collaboration also includes LLNL supporting Precision in obtaining regulatory approval for longer-term implants and enhancing its quality management system.
