Quercus robur (penduculate oak) and quercus cerris (Turkey oak) acorns
Oh cool, the Turkey oaks naturally have the frilly bit? we have a robur in our garden which is very tall and straight, then along the street and surrounding fields there are some lovely gnarly ones with the spooky shape. need to research one day if they are actually the same species
Yes, Turkey oaks have such hairy cups. If you can post some snapshots of those gnarly ones, perhaps I can help identify the species. https://image.nostr.build/8f9d94696ff7a7835a999854df10cc8ec7501b131df1e523ca16c8c7c2cb1b78.jpg
