Agreed. I love finding out what others think about current events. 

I tuned out for a while yesterday because I know (from years in journalism) that the first hours of a breaking news event are a shitshow that offer little more than speculation and sideshow entertainment. 

If you really want a true update, watch or listen to news at the top of the hour for the “top of your reset.” Most hours there will be nothing new; it’s just reworded for freshness. 

And, always, the question for me is, “how does this affect me? My family? Do I know anyone directly involved? Does this touch my community?” The answer is usually no.
