one of my favorite things about being mexican is how our culture doesn’t hide from death— it can be sad, ofc, but it’s the ultimate thing that unites us all. it’s a beautiful thing to consider when living the day by day: we’re not here forever, so let’s make it better.
i’ve known of people and have had family members who instead of funerals had “a celebration of life”. it’s like a party. we wear colorful clothing, have good food, loud music and dance to the memory of the person that we loved.
death is not to be feared but embraced.
