After thinking about this for a long while, not really. The only reason nostr doesn’t have (many) “low integrity” people is because there aren’t many people on it at all. I’ll bet all the sats in my wallet that if nostr had as large of an active userbase as Tw*tter/X, it would look something like Tw*tter. Pretending that technological implementations would magically turn dickheads into better human beings is wishful thinking. The SJW keyboard warriors are still going to SJW. The incels, neo-nazis, and white supremacists are still going to be pieces of shit, regardless of whether or not they can block people or delete posts. The fundamental reason some people behave the way they do on social media is because it’s an anonymous medium of interaction. There’s no face-to-face aspect of socializing, thereby dehumanizing the person on the other end to a degree. No “features” are going to fix that.
yes but its all easier to filter out here, more control. so someone can create an custom experience much easier than with main stream social media which includes ads, promoted content, more steps to block, etc. Nostr is also less of a honeypot for scammers as most users her post much less personal or identifiable information than on mainstream social media. Thirdly, joining nostr is not really the normal way of signing up for an account on mainstream websites. Most normies and normie scammers wont bother going through a short process that is different from what they are used to. Im not saying none of them wont, but it decreases the percentage of those types of npubs.
You are both correct. the 'good ones' are here, the bad aren't. When they do come however, the protocol itself doesn't lend to the nonsense tweets, the engagement farmers, the elon bucks, the blockers, etc.. they will never stay, so it sort of will over time fix the issues or will change their behavior, depending on the person.
