A recent study analyzing the impact of Germany's minimum wage increase in 2022 has yielded interesting findings. The policy, which saw a 22% rise from €9.82 to €12, had significant positive effects on hourly wages and monthly earnings for low-wage workers. However, the study also identified a negative effect on working hours, primarily among minijobbers. Despite this, there was no observed impact on employment retention or regional levels.
